A fresh, new space that honors the past
Phillips Exeter Academy (PEA)

ARC’s creative phasing of the work allowed us to use the building throughout each academic year and ultimately to create a much-needed new gathering and community experience for our students.
Mark Leighton, Director of Facilities Management, Phillips Exeter Academy

ARC’s design integrates historic features of the Louis Kahn original with modern, efficient systems and expanded natural light throughout – achieving a seamless fit of modern materials with original character. The renovations occurred in three phases during summer months to keep the dining hall operational during the academic year.

The Phillips Exeter Academy Library and Dining Hall was cited by Design Curial and My Modern Met as one of Louis Kahn's most important projects.
