Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA /  Tosteson Medical Education Center Classroom Renovations

Completed:

August 2015

Size:

16,000 SF

The TMEC building is home to the Program in Medical Education at Harvard Medical School. In order to accommodate the newly created "Pathways" curriculum, it was necessary to completely renovate the four existing "Skills Areas" suites. The architectural and furnishing flexibility design of the renovated suites successfully supports varying teaching and learning styles. The Learning Studios’ interior design distinguishes four Academic Societies of medical students with a unique color and an area for branding identity. These high performance spaces are designed with state-of-the-art AV technology including 90” digital displays, ample glass white board writing space, wireless content-sharing to student devices, and video/web-conferencing capabilities. All of this is supported by movable furnishings that allow enable students and faculty to spontaneously reconfigure into various groupings for project based group work, lectures or individual focused work.
