In association with Svigals + Partners, ARC is currently working on a major renovation of the University of Connecticut Health’s C Building (Clinic) in Farmington, CT. The existing 300,000+ SF building was constructed in the early 1970s and has remained relatively unchanged other than localized minor renovations. Funded as part of the Connecticut Bio-Science Initiative, proposed plans include major renovation/ expansion of the Dental and Cardiology Clinics, new clinics for Pulmonary, and Nephrology, as well as renovations to the main three story lobby space and offices for the Clinical Research group. The renovations for the University School of Dental Medicine will provide 80,000 SF of new, completely renovated dental clinic space, increasing the number of treatment areas in all disciplines and improving integrated educational facilities. New public spaces and simplified wayfinding are provided to improve the patient experience. The clinics are arranged to facilitate faculty, post-doctoral and pre-doctoral students working together within a group dental practice setting. In addition to general dentistry the project includes new clinics to support specialized practices in prosthodontics, periodontics and endodontics. Other facilities include a full oral surgery suite, an emergency suite and a new radiology suite providing general as well as advanced screening services, The renovations to the Pat and Jim Calhoun Cardiology Center provide new expanded cardiology procedure spaces to support advanced, outpatient treatments. The project provides new echo/ stress test facilities, prep/ recovery areas in addition to office and support spaces. Like the new Dental Clinics, Cardiology will have an improved organization and new waiting areas to enhance the patient experience. The project also includes upgrades and improvements to the main entry and lobby in keeping with the departmental goals of improving the patient healthcare experience. In addition to the program improvements, the C Building renovation will provide significant upgrades to an aging infrastructure that will extend the life of this important UCH building. The work will be constructed over 4 phases and 33 months to assure that all operations continue throughout the project.
