Completed:

1998

Size:

480 seats

ARC’s Master Plan for the Stern School of Business at New York University explored options for the re-organization and updating of facilities within Shimkin Hall. A phased renovation and remodeling program led to the relocation of core facilities including classrooms, study spaces, and student support spaces to the lower levels of the complex, with the middle floors reserved for student related administrative offices and the upper levels for departmental groups.

As part of the overall upgrading of facilities at the Stern School, ARC prepared plans for the complete renovation of the 480-seat Schimmel Auditorium. The seating and shape of the auditorium were changed to improve sight lines and acoustics. A “smart” podium was designed to allow touch-screen control of the new state-of-the-art lighting and audio-visual systems. A fast-track schedule was employed to allow the entire project to be completed during the summer break.
