Following a master plan that was developed concurrently with the Vertical Expansion, ARC is implementing a comprehensive phased renovation of the existing pre-doctoral student clinics. The design redistributes clinic space to provide smaller and more intimate student practice groups, improves circulation, separates public patient and private staff/student spaces, and provides support space directly related to each practice group.
The 20,000-square foot second floor renovations serve as the prototype for future pre-doctoral clinic renovations by accommodating four “practices” as part of a new teaching paradigm that simulate actual dental office practices . Throughout, ARC designers customized the detailing of standard materials to create sophisticated yet cost-effective solutions. Glass walls and doors allow for views across the length of the floor. Wood-finished, illuminated nodes break up the long expanse of circulation and clinic space and define destination points where specific activities take place including the two “check-in” areas for the four “practices” and clinic teaching stations.
