Fighting Food Insecurity: Empowering Arlington's Community
Beginning in 2019, ARC had the opportunity to collaborate with Arlington EATS, a local nonprofit dedicated to fostering a community that supports individuals facing food scarcity. ARC completed programming and concept design for the project pro bono, and the newly constructed space was completed in Autumn 2022. This project aimed to create a new space, fostering dignity and empowerment. Arlington EATS brings together those struggling with food scarcity and food justice advocates, providing a welcoming and respectful environment to collaborate in their mission to eliminate food insecurity and hunger in the community.
Our new headquarters brings our operations and offices under one roof, making us more efficient and responsive so we can meet our community’s needs whatever they are. We are excited to open our doors and welcome people in.
The project involved developing a 2,700 square foot space that adheres to ADA standards. It features a market designed for a dignified shopping experience, a dedicated headquarters to enhance efficiency and flexibility in shopping hours and services and an adaptable community room that serves multiple purposes like a classroom, waiting room, event space, or emergency response staging area.
Arlington EATS is a wonderful organization that supports the local community, addressing the increasing challenges of food insecurity. It was a joy working with them on this project.
