NMR Buddhist Meditation Center, Raynham, MA / Wat Nawamintararachutis Thai Buddhist Temple (NMR Center)
As the largest Thai Buddhist Temple outside of Thailand, the new NMR Mediation Center takes it design cues from both Eastern and Western cultures. The design expresses a simple elegance throughout the complex so that the entire center can be understood as a whole, but also as a sum of its elements. Situated on a 50-acre site, the project is dedicated to the life of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, Rama IX, the current King of Thailand who was born in Cambridge, Mass. The complex consists of a temple, museum/ library, monk residence halls and a multi-purpose hall located around a central courtyard.
