It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Arthur Cohen, FAIA, LEED AP.
As a founding partner at ARC, Arthur led the design of many of the firm’s award-winning projects which have shaped the direction and quality of work ARC represents today. He played an instrumental role in fostering ARC’s focus in the science and technology sector.
Arthur’s work was nationally recognized for design and planning concepts that pushed the envelope of life science facilities. Integrating technology with design, he created humane, sophisticated work environments for scientists and researchers. Arthur successfully bridged science, design and practice earning him the highest respect among his colleagues, peers and clients.
During his 50-year career Arthur was an active member of his professional and local communities. He remained dedicated to serving the interests of the profession through leadership positions for the BSA and his involvement with the AIA. Locally, Arthur served on the Design Review Committee for the City of Newton, the Board of Temple Shalom and was a past president of Newton Squash and Tennis Club. His contributions to architecture and society were recognized in 2008 when he was elected to The College of Fellows of The American Institute of Architects.
Arthur’s infectious laughter and youthful spirit will live on at ARC and for all that knew and loved him. We are grateful for his contributions to the firm and thankful to have known him.
