ARC Wins the DiNoc Your Buoy Design Challenge!

On October 1st, a number of ARC’s Interior Designers participated in “DiNoc Your Buoy Design Challenge” hosted by Steelcase and Designtex/3M at the Steelcase/RedThread Showroom on Boston Wharf Road. The Buoy is a new stool from Steelcase that’s design is inspired by the rocking of ocean buoys. A lightweight, portable seat, it features a contoured base that tilts and swivels.
Teams of up to 5 individuals competed to use DiNoc to transform a Buoy stool. DiNoc is a flexible, adhesive vinyl film that comes in hundreds of colors and designs, ranging from natural materials such as stone and wood, to bold modern colors. This decorative surface finish is easily applied to metal, wood, glass or plastic. It offers a quick and inexpensive way to achieve all sorts of aesthetics on casework, doors, columns, walls, and furniture.
Steelcase and 3M provided the materials, the space and plenty of refreshments. Each team selected their DiNoc colors and patterns in advance. The theme was “endless summer,” and the ARC team took inspiration from an early summer sunrise choosing a gradient of saturated reds, oranges, yellow and blues. After 2 hours of cutting, peeling, and sticking, the teams presented their finished work.
At the end of a fun and social evening, I am proud to report the ARC Team took home best in show! Congrats to the team and many thanks to the wonderful hosts.
