We recently photographed ARC’s renovation to UMass Boston’s Clark Gymnasium. Gary Stein, AIA, LEED AP (Project Manager) and I oversaw the photo shoot a few weeks ago with Warren Patterson taking the shots.
The project involved the renovation of the 1970s era, 28,000 SF Clark Gym. New glass entry doors were designed to bring more light and transparency into the space and allow visitors and passersby to see into the gym. Other new features included retractable bleachers, accessibility retrofits and flexible lighting to accommodate commencement and other school functions as well as the NCAA Division 3 athletics program.
In addition to providing a rejuvenated space for games, the renovations have benefited the entire community from intramural sports to drop-in times available for students to take advantage of down time between classes. The gym looks great!
