Temple University, Philadelphia, PA / Science Education and Research Center (SERC)
A vital component of the implementation plan developed from Temple University’s 20/20 framework plan, the 260,000SF SERC is envisioned as a gateway to the science facilities on Temple’s main campus. The facility houses spaces for the Departments of Biology, Chemistry, Computer and Information Sciences, Earth and Environmental Sciences, and Physics as well as the Institute for Computational & Molecular Sciences. The building has seventeen teaching laboratories, small group classrooms, large lecture rooms, as well as flexible laboratory space to accommodate both wet and dry research labs and is designed to maximize the use of technology to enhance learning experience and research effectiveness for Temple’s students and faculty. A new 2-story atrium within the building serves as the entrance and focus to the new research and educational corridor linking the existing College of Engineering and the College of Science & Technology buildings to the new facility.
