Village of the Arts

Noble & Greenough School

As part of its campus expansion, Nobles demonstrates its dedication to its blossoming music, art and drama departments with a new 42,000 SF Arts Center. Linking the existing Administration and Art buildings, the Center is a contemporary glass, brick, and patented copper building which fits comfortably into the campus and its site.

The core of the building is a 260-seat multi-tier theater nestled between the arts and music wings. Additionally, music rehearsal and practice rooms, painting studio and art gallery, theater support spaces and classrooms help create a “Village of the Arts.” A new glass lobby, linking the wings, has been designed to facilitate the exchange and interaction between students, faculty and parents, thereby forming a strong nucleus for an exciting program.

The $13 million Center also provided an opportunity to redevelop the main school entrance and reduce vehicular traffic through the wooded campus. To ease its visual impact on the campus, the main road was reconfigured and the parking was relocated into smaller lots, tucked amongst the trees. A new entrance and lobby for the existing administration building have been designed to create a clearly defined “point-of-arrival” for visitors.
