Research & Development Center Master Plan
Millipore Corporation, Bedford, MA
Completed: 2004 / Size: 225,000 SF
Completed in 2002, ARC’s Campus Master Plan evaluated Millipore’s existing 30-acre, six-building campus in Bedford, Massachusetts. During the process, ARC identified a combination of new construction and selected renovations to be completed in phases. The resulting design integrated both new and existing facilities through the development of shared entries, lobbies, links and courtyards.
The Master Plan was updated in 2004 to reflect current needs for new space and called for 225,000 SF of new lab and office space to be built in two phases. Two existing buildings were removed to make way for the first phase - a 110,000 SF new building and 35,000 SF of renovations with a new central courtyard – which was completed by ARC in 2006. A third building will eventually be removed to provide space for the Phase II building as well as a connecting walkway designed to complete the buildings around the courtyard. (D, C and F represent existing buildings).
